The journey is led by a 25-minute flight or 8 hrs drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then scenic short mountain flight to Jomsom. After getting the Jomsom, start the Mountain biking tour to upper mustang. The bike is riding along the upper Kali Gandaki Valley on a flat gravel road towards Kagbeni. Today we will have to leave early in the morning after breakfast from Kathmandu hotel and take a tourist bus or private vehicle to Pokhara. The road is heading along the river side, valleys, a few towns, villages, farmland, mountain and green hilly scenery to Pokhara. You will reach Pokhara around mid-afternoon, leaving plenty of time to explore the lakeside city or take a rest in Pokhara hotel for the next Biking day.
We will have an early flight to Jomsom from Pokhara. You will be enjoying the short scenic mountain flight for 20 minutes between the two massive mountains Annapurna (8091m) and Dhaulagiri (8167m). After landing in the Jomsom, you and the guide will build (fixed) the bikes for the first ride of the tour. From Jomsom, the biking route follows the Kaligandaki to get to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is the traditional gateway to the Upper Mustang. That day is an easy and short ride to enjoy the beautiful Mountain Views and explore the temple, monasteries and Kagbeni Village.
After breakfast at the teahouse, we rode the bikes uphill for the most part to reach Muktinath. We follow the trail on the north side of the gorge and climb up on a good road towards the foreboding Thorong La Pass. We stop in Jhong to explore the ancient monastery at Jhong and have some lunch in the rooftop restaurant with mountain Views. Then push on to Muktinath. We can arrive in Muktinath midafternoon and spend some time here exploring the Monastery and Temples.
Today, we will visit the Muktinath Temple for worship to God shiva and go back to the hotel for breakfast. After that, we then continued riding to the mysterious land of Upper Mustang region. The biking route starts ascending uphill to Gyu La Pass (4077m) and then descends to Chhusang. From Chuksang the road is a slight climb and river crossing to reach Chele on the opposite riverbank where the river passes through a rock tunnel and then a steady climb up to Samar.
Today the biking route will be tougher than the previous days to reach the Ghami Village because you will cross some passes such as Bhena La, Yamdo La, Syanboch La, Nya La and Ghami La. Gami is one of the most beautiful villages, situated on the river side with fertile land, an old Monastery and local hospital which is supported with aid from Japan. You will have wonderful scenery along the biking route.
The Biking route ascends and descends through the Charang Village. Charang is a nice village with a really beautiful 400-year-old Gulpa Sect Monastery filled with friendly Monks. Charang is a great village to hang out in and snap some photos. After arriving at Lo-Manthang, you will have checked into the teahouse and walked into the center to explore the ancient walled city. Lo Manthang is a colorful old village steeped in history with spectacular views. You will also be able to see the King's Palace.
Today will be a hiking day to explore Lo-Manthang and Choser Cave. Lo-manthang is famous for centuries-old Gumba, the Royal place, local culture, Museum and antique Buddhist ways of life. Also, you will have the opportunity to get to the China Border to see the Tibetan landscape through Choser cave. Choser cave is a picturesque place with old history. If the weather is clear, you will see the best panorama views of the annapurna mountain range and other snow peak mountains.
Today we will ride back on new single-track routes. We also have to cross some passes namely Lo La (3950m), Chogo La (4280m), and Mui La (4170m). The route ascends and descends through Ghar Gompa and Dhakmar. Ghar gompa is the oldest monastery with an interesting history in the Lo- Manthang. Then continue to ride down to Ghami through Dhakmar. Dhakmar is also a nice place with colorful landscapes to capture the picture.
This day was a long day from the opposite direction going in the Lo-Manthang. But you will feel an easier day compared to that day because most of the part is descending to get Chele. The downhill part is a really fast and fun section, with beautiful views of the Nilgiri, Annapurna and other mountains.
Today you will head to the Lower Mustang from the Upper Mustang. The route starts the descent along the Kaligandaki River towards Lower Mustang. Most of the part is flat to riding the bike to reach the Marpha Village. Marpha is a nice village to explore apple farms, old households and monasteries.
After having breakfast, we started to ride the bikes toward a more subtropical region along the Kali Gandaki River. We descend all the way to Tatopani with an amazing green landscape and the peaks of snow-capped mountains. Tatopani is famous for hot springs where you can bathe in the natural hot spring to relax your body strains and skin ailments.
After breakfast at Tatopani hotel, we will ride the bike to Beni along the riverbanks of Kaligandaki where we will catch a vehicle to Pokhara. Our vehicle will be waiting at Beni to take us back to Pokhara and transfer us to the hotel. In Pokhara you will visit the amazing lakeside and also enjoy the nightlife here.
Driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu takes about 6/8 Hours or 25 minutes by airplane. Your guide drops you in a hotel in Kathmandu, you will get fresh for a farewell dinner in a Nepali restaurant with Nepali culture dance.
